More than 10k vessels are at risk of being scrapped if they fail to comply with the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) new carbon targets, Hellenic Shipping News reports. Shipowners must upgrade their carbon intensity indicator technology (CII) to comply with the IMO’s reduction targets, which stipulate that ships cut emissions by 20% by 2030, and 70% by 2040, with the aim of reaching net-zero emissions by 2050.
