New healthcare ins. product to cover outpatient care without pre-approval

No pre-approval for outpatient care

No pre-approval: Saudi Arabia plans to introduce a health ins. product that will allow policyholders to receive outpatient treatment without requiring prior medical approval, the Ins. Authority said in a press release.

The new product will be available to ins. customers from 1 November. It will be offered as an additional option alongside existing health ins. products, giving employers and policyholders greater flexibility to choose coverage based on their needs.

Consumer protection: Policyholders and health ins. beneficiaries can file a complaint with the Ins. Authority if an insurer refuses to provide the new option when requested after the 1 November launch date.
