Abu Dhabi could be getting a USD 1 bn e-sports island, courtesy of True Gamers: Gaming lounge operator True Gamers plans to build a dedicated USD 1 bn e-sports area in Abu Dhabi, which would be the first of its kind, The National reports. No specific timeline has been set for the project.

Financing: True Gamers intends to allocate between USD 280-300 mn for the project, the firm’s co-founder Vlad Belyanin told The National. The company is currently engaging in discussions with “high-profile investors” to obtain the total funding required for acquiring the island and building the facilities, he added.

Location: The planned project site is located between Al Bandar and Al Dana developments in Al Raha Beach, offering views of Yas Island on one side and residential developments of Raha Beach on the other.
