Adani’s Godda plant to join Indian grid soon: Adani Power’s 1.6k MW Godda thermal power plant in eastern India’s Jharkhand — which currently exports all its electricity to Bangladesh — will be connected to the country’s national grid by December, The Hindu Businessline reports, citing CEO SB Khyalia. The integration will allow domestic power sales if Bangladesh halts scheduling or defaults on payments under its 25-year power purchase agreement.
Commissioned in 2023 as India’s first private thermal plant power project dedicated solely to exports, Godda has pending dues exceeding USD 500 mn (INR 41.7 bn) from Bangladesh’s power utilities. Most dues have now been cleared, with only half a month’s payment pending.
Expansion pipeline: Adani Power is also bidding for 22k MW of thermal capacity across Assam, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and other states, and is developing 6k MW of brownfield projects to be completed between FY 2026-29.
