India + US enter long-term defence pact: India and the US have inked a 10-year defense framework pact to expand collaboration in technology, intelligence-sharing, and regional security, US Secretary of War Peter Hegseth announced on X. He said the defence ties between two countries have “never been stronger.” The pact was sealed in Kuala Lumpur between Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Hegseth.

Both sides described the framework as a cornerstone for regional stability and deterrence, marking the next phase in the US-India defense partnership first formalized in 2016. It lends policy direction to the full spectrum of bilateral defense cooperation as both countries stay committed to an open and rules-bound Indo-Pacific region, Hegseth said.
