Saudi Post launches new delivery service in KSA: The Saudi Post (SPL) inked a partnership with Al Dawaa Medical Services Company subsidiary Abana Group Company and Proceed Logistics, to launch the National Parcel Stations Network Company (Parcelat), according to a statement. The agreement was inked on the sidelines of the Global Health Exhibition in Riyadh, according to Saudi Press Agency (SPA). The partnership aims to contribute to development of the quality of delivery operations in the kingdom, and to expand delivery options to increase last-mile services.
M&A WATCH-
Bahri now owns 40% of Petredec: The National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia (Bahri) has increased its stake in LPG transporter and distributor Petredec Group to 40.08%, up from 30.03%, after it acquired the shares of an exiting partner, according to a Saudi Exchange (Tadawul) disclosure. The transaction will be financed through Petrodec Group’s available money, the disclosure states. Bahri’s first investment in Petredec was in 2005 with a 24.39% ownership.
STORAGE & WAREHOUSING-
Egypt-basedLATT Logistics was awarded an EGP 70 mn contract for a warehouse for dangerous goods in Alexandria Port, making it the first private firm to receive a license to build and operate a warehouse of the kind, the company’s managing director, Mohamed Hassan Abdelkader, told Enterprise Logistics. The 1.5k sqm warehouse in the port comes alongside another 3.5k warehouse for general cargo at the port, as well as 4k sqm of open yard storage space, Hassan said, adding that the company plans to begin setting up the warehouses within days.
The details: The two warehouses will have the capacity to store 80k tons of dangerous and general goods a year, Hassan said.
SHIPPING + MARITIME
Germany-based shipping company Hapag-Lloydis adding Egypt’s Alexandria Port to its Adriatic Sea Express route starting December 2023, according to a press release. The shipping line will link Alexandria to ports in Venice, Croatia, Greece, and Slovenia.
