Iran summons Swiss diplomat to protest US’ offloading of seized Iranian oil: Iran summoned the chargé d’affaires of the Swiss Embassy in Iran to express “strong objection” to the offloading of Iranian crude oil seized by American authorities, ABC News reported, citing statements by Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani. Switzerland has represented American interests in Iran since the 1979 US Embassy hostage crisis.
They have been at it for months: The statements by the Iranian official acknowledged that the seized cargo is Iranian. This is the latest development in a tit-for-tat tanker war that has also seen Iran seize tankers near the Strait of Hormuz and the USA increasing forces in the region to deter Iran.
