RAIL-
Egypt is planning to set up a new railway station in El Arish to serve the Arish-Taba logistics corridor, according to a Transport ministry statement. The 500 km railway connects East Port Said to Sinai’s El Arish and Taba, and will be implemented over five years, with the first two-year phase connecting East Port Said and Bir El Abd and the remainder extending the line to El Arish and Taba at a later stage.
DIGITALIZATION-
Dubai-based logistics solutions provider Logsquare has inked a strategic partnership agreement with Indian robotics company Addverb Technologies, according to a company statement. The partnership will help Addverb expand its operations in the Middle East expansion, particularly in the GCC and Iraqi markets. This will involve integrating Addverb’s autonomous mobile robots portfolio and fleet management system software into Logsquare’s solutions.
AVIATION-
Abu Dhabi International Airport’s Midfield terminal is scheduled to open in late 2023 following a six-year delay, Construction Week reports. The 700k sqm terminal, construction on which first began in 2012 and is set to be completed by 5 December, will have a capacity of up to 11k passengers per hour.
