Spain is well suited for green corridors: Spain is ideally situated to give impetus to decarbonization efforts in shipping by developing green corridors between its ports and others in Europe and elsewhere, according to a recent study (pdf) by think tank Global Maritime Forum. The study identifies eight potential green shipping corridors, where a confluence of public and private actions combine to boost the feasibility of zero-emission shipping.

The study nominates the UK, Italy, USA, Turkey, Morocco, and China as Spain’s best potential partners for the development of green corridors. Global Maritime Forum stressed that “a viable fuel pathway, customer demand for green shipping, enabling policy and regulation, and cross-value chain collaboration” are necessary to the development of climate-friendly logistical corridors.
