Emirates’ cargo division Emirates SkyCargo has added two Boeing 747-400Fs to its freighter fleet as part of plans to double its capacity over the next decade, according to a press release. The two new aircraft will be added to the company’s existing fleet of 11 Boeing 777 freighters, and are currently scheduled to fly to Hong Kong nine times and to Chicago three times on a weekly basis.

More expansions coming: The airfreight division plans to further increase its capacity with the addition of 15 more freighters by 2025 through announced orders and its freighter conversion program. It also aims to boost its fleet to more than 300 aircraft by mid-2030, while planning to add 20 new destinations to its freighter network.

The timeline: “The two new 747-Fs which we have leased will give us immediate capacity, while we wait for delivery of five new 777Fs in 2024 and 2025, and 10 777-300ERs to roll out of our conversion program over the next five years,” Nabil Sultan, divisional senior vice president of Emirates SkyCargo, said in the press release.
