10 MENA cities ranked among the world’s top 100 smart cities:Ten cities in the MENA region placed among the world’s top 100 smart cities, with Abu Dhabi and Dubai making it to the top 20, in the International Institute for Management Development’s (IMD) smart city index report (pdf). Other cities in the top 100 include Riyadh, Jeddah, Mecca, Medina, Doha, Ankara, Tel Aviv, and Muscat. Cairo just missed the top 100, coming in at 108. A total of 141 cities were assessed this year, compared to the previous 118. The Smart City Index was established in 2019 and assesses the technological and economic advances of cities, including ease of mobility.
