Singapore-based shipping lines SeaLead and Blue Water Line have launched Gulf India Express (GIX), a container shipping service connecting vital ports across India and the Gulf region, according to a statement. GIX will operate two ships linking Mundra, Nhava Sheva, Sohar, Jebel Ali, and Dammam. MT Taichung is scheduled to depart for its inaugural voyage from Jebel Ali today followed by MV Abrao Cochin on 29 February. The service is in line with plans by Saudi Arabia and India to increase their bilateral trade to USD 100 bn from the current USD 52 bn, the statement notes.
AVIATION-
Turkish Airlines and Iraq’s Communications Ministry have inked a partnership agreement to provide postal services from Iraq to Turkey and other countries, according to a statement. The two sides will cooperate to transport packages from Iraq’s airports to Turkey and other countries via Turkish Airlines, the statement says. Under the agreement, express postal services and e-commerce services will be offered to customers through Iraqi Post.

Dubai to shore up food security: Dubai Municipality and Majid Al Futtaim – Retail have inked an MoU to collaborate to ensure the sustainable provision of strategic food commodities in Dubai, according to a statement. The MoU aims to establish a sustainable food system and flexible food supply chains in line with Dubai Food Security Strategy, which aims to diversify import sources and ensure the availability of goods, according to the release. The MoU also sets out the technical requirements for electronic connectivity to monitor supply chain challenges and constraints on commodities.
