Lufthansa places a large order for new aircraft from Airbus: German carrier LufthansaGroup has placed a firm order with European aircraft maker Airbus for 40 A220-300s aircraft, according to a statement. The A220-300 has 25% lower CO2 emissions when compared to legacy aircraft and is able to operate with up to 50% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). The orders are set to bolster the carrier’s short and medium haul fleet, the statement notes.

More orders from Airbus are likely on the way: “Just a few months ago, as the largest airline customer, we received our 600th aircraft from Airbus, and we look forward to taking delivery of number 700,” CEO of Deutsche Lufthansa AG Carsten Spohr said.
