AfDB lends EUR 246 mn to Moroccan highway project: TheAfricanDevelopmentBank (AfDB) will disburse EUR 246 towards construction of Morocco’s Guercif-Nador highway project, according to a statement. The funding package comprises EUR 200 mn from AfdDB with an additional USD 46 mn from the Africa Growing Together Fund. The major project is slated to upgrade Morocco’s transport infrastructure and boost logistics competitiveness, the statement said.
What project? The Guercif-Nador highway project looks to boost connectivity in Morocco’s Oriental region and will provide a link to the future port of Nador West Med and its business park. It will connect Nador, Guercif, and all other towns along the project’s corridor and will be integrated with the national road grid. The project is also poised to lower transport and vehicle maintenance costs, enhance road safety, and attract investments, the statement said.
