Dnata appoints new managing director for Switzerland + Qatar Airways CEO elected to IATA board

Emirati air and travel services providerDnatahas appointed Willy Ruf (LinkedIn)as its newmanaging director for Switzerlandeffective 1 January 2024, replacing Roberto Fiejoo Lopez, according to a press release. Ruf will oversee Dnata’s ground handling and cargo business operations at Geneva Airport and Zurich Airport. He comes with 30 years of international experience in the ground handling, cargo, and travel industries, and was recently Dnata head of operations in Geneva, according to the release.

Qatar Airways Group CEO Badr Mohammed Al Meer has been elected to join theboard of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), according to a statement. Al Meer was appointed as Qatar Airways CEO to succeed former CEO Akbar Al Baker in October.
