Mawani lays foundation stone for integrated logistics area in Jeddah Islamic Port: Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) and French shipping container firm CMA CGM have begun construction on their new SAR 487 mn integrated logistics area in Jeddah Islamic Port, according to a statement. The authority inked the agreement with the new logistics area — which is set to span over 130k square — meters back in 2022. The project is slated for completion in 1Q 2025, according to the statement.
Who’s in on it? CMA CGM Inland Services (CCIS), the group’s inland transportation solutions development arm, is collaborating with its logistics arm CEVA to closely work on the project to strengthen CMA CGM’s presence in the kingdom, according to the press release.
The details: The logistics area will include an exports hub, storage, sorting services, smart warehouses, cold storage services, and multimodal transportation solutions, according to the statement.
This is CMA CGM’s first integrated logistics platform in the region, its regional director for the Middle East Gulf, Indian Subcontinent, Indian Ocean Islands, and Southern and Eastern Africa, Jesper Steinbeck, said.
