Seafarer welfare index down in 3Q 2023: The latest Seafarer Happiness Index reveals a further drop in seafarer sentiment in 3Q 2023, indicating a consistent decline, according to the Index (pdf). The index determined seafarer happiness levels at 6.6 out of 10, down from 6.77 in 2Q and 7.1 in 1Q 2023, according to the index. Dissatisfaction with wages, workloads, onboard connectivity, and barriers to diversity and inclusion were noted as reasons for the decline.
