Ras Al Khaimah has granted its transport authority new licensing power over maritime transport in the emirate

Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority gets more authority under new bill:UAE Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi has issued a new law handing the Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority new licensing and regulatory powers over maritime transport in Ras Al Khaimah (RAK), Emirati news agency WAM reports.

The new responsibilities: The transport authority will be responsible for developing comprehensive plans for the marine transport system — and all related construction work — in the emirate, including approving development programs and projects, and supervising them, according to WAM. Planning routes, networks, and marine activity sites, as well as the construction of berths and storage places, will also fall under its scope, WAM reports.

Training marine transport workers is another responsibility: The authority will train, qualify, and license marine transport crew, as well as inspect all means of transport to ensure their compliance with safety standards and procedures and create a marine transport database for the emirate.
