Agility to help localize medical devices sector in KSA: Kuwaiti logistics outfit Agility has inked an MoU with Saudi investment ministry to help localize the supply chain for new innovative healthcare technologies, according to a company press release. Agility will work to attract investors and companies to the kingdom, in a bid to transfer supply chain and knowledge expertise in the sector.
This isn’t Agility’s first partnership with the Saudi gov’t: Menzies Aviation, a subsidiary of Agility, signed an MoU in January with Saudi Logistics Services (SAL) to develop the kingdom’s airports.
TRANSPORT-
KSA + Kuwait agree to develop transport infrastructure in Khafji City: Saudi Arabia and Kuwait agreed at a meeting of the Saudi-Kuwait Investment Coordination Committee to form a joint venture to develop the transport infrastructure of Khafji City, Zawya reports, Al Qabas reports, citing government sources. Khafji City is located within the oil-rich neutral zone shared by the two neighbors. The joint investment alliance aims to encourage investors and developers from both countries to invest in projects to advance the transport infrastructure in Khafji on a build-operate-transfer basis.
AVIATION-
Yemen’s Sana’a International Airport has begun construction on a bridge at its eastern entrance, according to a Transport Ministry statement. The bridge, funded jointly by Yemen’s Civil Aviation Authority, Road Maintenance Fund, and Yemenia Airlines, will be used to transport products slated for export as well as food supplies for Yemenia and other airlines, the statement adds. An airport hangar has also been renovated and is ready to be used to export local products, the statement adds. The airport has also revamped its arrival, departure, and transit halls.

Gunavar secures modern tankers from AMPTC: Clearlake, the shipping arm of Swiss-based commodity trading company Gunavar, has secured modern LR2 tankers from the Kuwait-based Arab Maritime Petroleum Transport Company (AMPTC), Splash reports. Clearlake will use AMPTC’s Ocean Blue vessel for a five-year period, and will receive three other ships — the Crystal, Saqr and Seahorse — in 2024. Clearlake will pay USD 27k per day for each ship over five years. Ocean Blue was previously leased to Saudi shipping company Bahri for two years at a USD 41k per day fee, Splash adds, citing VesselsValue data.

A German industrial zone in the SCZone? Egypt and Germany kicked off discussions about setting up a German industrial zone in the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) during a meeting last week, the Trade Ministry said in a statement. The two sides also inked a cooperation protocol to enhance partnership in the fields of trade, investment, energy, SMEs, and climate.

Kuwait’s Soor Fuel Marketing has inked a 5-year, KWD 4.41 contract with Agility subsidiary Tristar to transport its fuel products from its warehouses to its gas stations, Mubasher reports, citing a bourse disclosure.
