AD Ports’ Kezad breaks ground on food and automotive hubs: AD Ports subsidiary Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi (Kezad) has broken ground on the AED 330 mn Abu Dhabi Food Hub and Global Auto Hub, and other projects located within its Area B1 in Kezad Al Mamourah, according to a press release. The projects, which will both cover 3.3 square kilometers each, are part of AD Ports’ five-year capex program to invest AED 15 bn between 2023-2027, the release adds.

About the food hub: The hub is being developed in partnership with Ghassan Aboud Group and in collaboration with France’s Rungis International, and is expected to become the epicenter for food trade, processing, and distribution in the region, according to the press release. It aims to ensure food security, food waste reduction, and promote sustainable agriculture practices, Kezad CEO Mohamed Al Khadar Al Ahmed commented.

The global auto hub — also being developed in partnership with Ghassan Aboud Group — is set to be the largest in the region, and will feature dedicated areas for showrooms, storage, spare parts, workshops, test tracks, auction houses, social and office spaces in addition to logistics services, government support and commercial support services, Al Ahmed noted.

Who’s involved? The hubs will be located in Al Ma’mourah Area B1, which is master planned by Parsons, while the design for secondary infrastructure within the hubs has been awarded to AECOM infrastructure consultancy, according to the press release. The contractor for primary infrastructure works in Area B1 is UAE-based Saif Bin Darwish.

More on Area B1: The area will include a logistics hub, media hub, light manufacturing facilities, staff accommodation services, among other amenities, the statement said.
