Amazon has unveiled two new robotic solutions, Sequoia and Digit, that should expedite Amazon deliveries and bolster workplace safety, according to a press release. Sequoia began operations in the company’s fulfillment center in Houston, Texas, and it is expected to speed up the process of identifying and storing inventory by 75% and lower the time taken to process orders by 25%, strengthening shipping predictability and boosting the number of products shipped for same-day or next-day delivery. It is also expected to shorten delivery times, increase the accuracy of delivery estimates, and enhance employee safety, the press release said. The company will also test Agility Robotics’ bipedal robot, Digit, for use in Amazon operations.

More automation to come:Amazon is also looking to introduce an ultra-fast drone delivery system, dubbed Prime Air, in Italy, the UK, and an additional US city by the end of 2024. Prime Air is introducing the new MK30 drone design, which is smaller and quieter than previous models. The drone will be introduced at fulfillment centers in Italy and the UK.
