Amazon purchases 10-year carbon removal credits from 1PointFive: Amazon has committed to buying 250k tons worth of carbon dioxide removal (CDR) credits over a decade from the 1PointFive direct air capture technology (DAC) plant in Texas, according to a statement. Amazon says the move will help accelerate the development of DAC solutions and is part of its commitment to reach net-zero by 2040. While the financial details of the agreement remain undisclosed, DAC technology developers say the credits range from mid to high triple-digit USD per metric ton, Reuters reports.
