Robot developers are pushing the boundaries of what robots can do in warehouses: Companies are beginning to explore new ways to improve logistics operation beyond the use of disembodied arms, moving trays, and other machines, The Wall Street Journalreports. Several companies including Agility Robotics, Figure AI andBoston Dynamicsare creating human-like robots tailored for use in distribution centers to move around warehouses, reach items on high shelves, pick things up, and move boxes — pushing physical limits on automation in the industrial sector. Developers say their devices will help warehouse operators fill up roles in which there are labor shortfalls, and eliminate the need to redesign warehouses around machines’ capabilities, according to WSJ.
