Global marine fuel supplier Peninsula has kicked off bunker supply operations at Egyptian Mediterranean ports, according to a press release. The company will offer supplies of very low sulfur fuel oil, high sulfur fuel oil, and low sulfur marine gas oil to vessels passing through the Suez Canal, according to the statement.
ICYMI- Egypt’s Suez Canal Economic Zone(SCZone) ports started providing bunkering services back in May, with Minerva kicking things off with deliveries to 10 bunker clients late last month. Peninsula and fuel supplier Minerva Bunkering were granted bunkering licenses last year, with Minerva reportedly aiming to attract some 8k ships in the first phase of its services in East Port Said and Ain Sokhna ports.
What they said: ”We have been working closely with [Egypt] for over a year and a half to ensure that we are in a position to build the local bunker market beyond historical levels. Port Said has huge potential for growth, and we feel that our track record and dedication to quality, along with our growing network in the region, will create an attractive proposition,” Peninsula CEO John Bassadone said.
