Boeing will hold up deliveries of more than 90 787 Dreamliners after discovering a defect in production, Bloomberg reports. The company will be inspecting the aircraft for improperly sized shims within the horizontal stabilizer, a small wing attached to a jet’s tail. The company is also working with US regulators to determine whether already-delivered aircraft need to undergo adjustments, while assuring that the production flaw does not present an immediate threat to safety. The mishap is a setback for the manufacturer, which has been struggling to keep pace with orders for its long-haul aircraft, especially ahead of a busy summer travel season.
