Drones to deliver lab diagnostics + medical supplies in Africa: Medical device manufacturerSiemens Healthineers Middle East and German drone manufacturer Wingcopter will develop and roll out an integrated drone delivery solution to transport lab diagnostics materials and medical supplies in Africa, according to a press release. The time and place of the first deployment of the drone deliveries for lab samples have yet to be announced.

The details: Wingcopter drones will be used hand in hand with Siemens Healthineers lab diagnostics facilities and information systems to enable efficient two-way delivery of samples, medicine, and other medical products. The battery-powered drones will be operated by Wingcopter and will cover a range of 75 km.

Bridging the healthcare logistics gap in Africa: The drones will enable centralization of sample testing and medical products distribution, which will improve access to diagnosis, increase efficiency and reduce costs, according to the statement.
