Gotion mulling EV battery factory in Morocco: Chinese EV battery manufacturer Gotion is looking to establish a battery plant in Morocco with a production capacity of 100 GW for an estimated investment of USD 6.3 bn, Reuters reports, citing the Moroccan Investment Agency. This follows Morocco’s announcement last year that it is negotiating to establish an EV battery “gigafactory” in the country.

Shahin to establish first-of-its-kind EV charging station factory in the UAE:The UAE’s Industry and Advanced Technology Ministry signed a letter of intent with EV solutions firm Shahin to establish an EV charging station factory in Abu Dhabi, WAMreports. Shahin, a company currently being established in Abu Dhabi under the NEV Enterprise, aims to meet 40% of the UAE’s Direct Current (DC) charging demand through this initiative by 2030.


Admiral Energy + Autel to expand EV charging infrastructure across Middle East and Africa: Admiral Energy, an arm ofUS appliance manufacturer Admiral Mobility, and global provider of EV charging solutions Autel have entered a strategic partnership to implement EV charging solutions in the Middle Eastern and African markets starting 23 July, Construction Business News reports. The partnership will see them offer charging units to Admiral Energy’s partners and distributors, the newswire reports. The charging points, which are set to be compatible with 99.5% of vehicle models, will accommodate fleet and commercial needs.

REMEMBER- Admiral Mobility recently entered into a partnershipwith Avis to provide electric trucks for lease in the UAE. It also signed an agreement with Geely Fairzon New Energy Commercial Vehicle Group last December to establish a plant to assemble 5k electric commercial vehicles — including 3k electric trucks — in the Middle East.

SHIPPING LINES-

DP World Cochin has introduced a new weekly shipping service linking India’s East Coast, Cochin and the Middle East, according to The Hindu. The service, which will employ a 2,407 TEU capacity vessel, is dubbed PIC2 and operated by Unifeeder Group. It will connect cities including Chennai, Krishnapatnam, Visakhapatnam, Tuticorin, Kandla, Karachi, and Jebel Ali. DP World Cochin now offers four direct weekly services to West Asia.

AVIATION-

Etihad Airways to provide new incentives to Emirati businesses: The UAE’s Industry and Advanced Technology Ministry and Etihad Airways have announced new incentives for companies certified under the National In-Country Value (ICV) Program, WAMreports. The incentives include reduced cargo rates and miles on Etihad flights. The agreement aims to boost the demand for local products and services, promote sustainable industrial growth, and attract foreign investments to strengthen supply chains.

MARITIME

Iran has added 15 ships to its merchant fleet in the Caspian Sea,as it increases trade with Russia and other neighboring countries to the north, according to Tasnim. Iran’s northern fleet of commercial vessels is one of the Iranian Transport Ministry’s priorities, the head of Iran’s Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO) said, according to Tasnim. Iran’s Caspian Sea fleet is set to expand further with the arrival of new ships soon. Iranian marine industrial company SADRA is also currently building four vessels to add to the country’s maritime fleet.
