Ikea’sIngka Group acquires supply chain software solution provider Made4net: The world’s biggest owner and operator of Ikea stores Ingka Group has fully acquired US-based supply chain software solution provider Made4net for an undisclosed amount, according to a press release. Ikea will implement Made4net’s Warehouse Management Solution (WMS) to increase capacity in what is potentially the largest implementation of WMS globally, according to the statement.
The EU has unveiled five legislative proposals to enhance maritime safety regulations and prevent water pollution from ships, according to a press release. The European Commission’s new proposals seek to align EU rules with international standards, “support clean and modern shipping,” and enhance implementation and enforcement through digitalization and greater EU cooperation. The proposals “pay special attention” to port state control accident investigations and the prevention of ship-source pollution, including by strengthening penalties for illegal discharges and covering more polluting substances. The European Maritime Safety Agency will play a crucial role in implementing the new rules, according to the press release. The proposals are now set to be considered by the European Parliament and Council.
