Emirates cargo airline launches healthcare solutions:Emirates SkyCargo has launched new solutions for transporting equipment related to healthcare and life sciences, according to a press release. The solutions will be rolled out globally with the help of specialist freight forwarders. Emirates Vital will transport human organs, cells, and tissues, through a white glove service, while Emirates Medical Devices will transport devices like ventilators, test kits, and X-ray and MRI machinery. It will also support movement for equipment for diagnosis, prevention, treatment, and disease monitoring.

Egypt’s sovereign fund partners up with pharma firm to establish a pharma logistics + distribution firm: The Sovereign Fund of Egypt’s (SFE) healthcare sub fund and B Investments are partnering with Egyptian pharma chain El Ezaby to set up EZ International, a pharma logistics and distribution firm, according to a joint press release (pdf). The new firm will provide logistics, management support, trade, and distribution services to Egyptian pharma companies, starting with El Ezaby’s 250+ branches and then expanding to 250 other local pharmacies.
The details: The different parties’ initial investments and respective stakes in the new firm were not disclosed but the partners “are moving ahead with a two-year capital increase plan” to support the new company, according to the statement. TheSFE also acquired a 49% stake in El Ezaby Pharmacy, which will enable the company to expand its branch count to 600.
