Qatar Airways Cargo launches cargo hub in Rwanda: Qatar Airways’ subsidiary QatarAirways Cargo has launched a cargo hub at Kigali International Airport (KGL) in Rwanda in partnership with Rwandan airline RwandAir, according to a press release. The hub will have Boeing 777 aircraft go back and forth between Kigali and Doha twice a week.
What they said: “Customers will benefit from a reliable intra-African network through the hub, enhanced levels of services, and cost synergies,” Chief Officer Cargo Guillaume Halleux said, according to the release.
Background: Qatar Airways Cargo provided consultations to RwandAir Cargo to improve its cargo handling performance in the lead-up to the launch of the cargo hub, according to the press release. This included a detailed action plan for operational enhancements, and a roadmap to improve its warehouse infrastructure, the press release said.
