Autonomous vehicles expansion

Nationwide rollout: Saudi Arabia plans to expand autonomous vehicles across its cities after the completion of a Riyadh pilot, with the Transport General Authority expected to begin issuing licenses for the sector soon, TGA President Fawaz Al Sahli told Asharq Al Awsat.

Zero accidents recorded: The pilot, launched in July 2025, was designed to test the regulatory framework for autonomous vehicles and adapt existing systems and legislation. Al Sahli said the trial recorded no accidents and saw strong public uptake.
