Senior reporter / lead editor — EnterpriseAM AI + Tech (Remote)
The Enterprise Company — publisher of EnterpriseAM, the business daily for the Arab world — is looking for a lead reporter-editor to take charge of our AI and technology coverage. You’ll work hand-in-hand with our founding editor to get it off the ground and then run the franchise going forward as a member of our senior newsroom team. You’ll need to be comfortable reporting and writing stories with voice and nuance across the Arab world — and leading a team that includes another full-time reporter (you’ll be hiring) while managing other reporters from across our >60-person newsroom.
The product
You’ll own AI + Tech coverage across our MENA+ flagship newsletter and national editions, among other products. We’re looking for someone who has a voice and a point of view — but who believes in strong opinions, loosely held.
The Arab world is rich with AI and tech stories: From USD 93 bn in data centre buildouts in the medium term and Gulf sovereigns as big investors in global AI, tech, and gaming players — to how AI (in particular) is playing out in businesses across MENA.
We’re looking for people who want to tell stories that matter to an audience of decision makers across the Arab world — as well as investors and execs outside looking for an in. There are tech-trade titles writing for CIOs and procurement bots — and there are press-release factories — but we don’t think anyone has gotten the AI and tech story right from Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Riyadh to Cairo and Rabat.
The role
Senior writer and lead editor on a two-person desk, with other reporters and editors pulled in on an as-needed basis. You’ll write reported features and analytical pieces, develop sources across G42, Humain, the regional sovereigns, consultancies, and the companies they’re all counting on to buy this stuff and make it real. You’ll help shape the editorial voice and the franchise as it grows, from newsletters to events. You’ll work closely with our editor-in-chief / CEO as well as with the executive editors of our newsroom.
What we want
- A minimum of 5 years in journalism with tons of ambition and a proven ability to get people talking about AI, technology and business.
- A mix of both reporting and analysis skills including a plan for how you’ll develop sources in MENA+ if you aren’t already familiar with our region.
- A voice we can hear in your work. We aren’t looking for robots who can push out press-release rewrites or bone-dry copy.
- Comfortable on a small team and at newsletter pace.
- Middle East experience is welcome but not required — we’ll get you up to speed on our part of the world if you meet us part way.
- You’re allergic to hype, you’ll call BS on vaporware, but you’re not a doomer. “Show me” is our editorial line: We deflate the Gulf and AI hype machines equally.
- What we DON’T want: Factory-scale tech news output, press release rewrites, AI fanboys.
Compensation and location
We pay internationally competitive salaries (UK / Canadian / European scale), but we’re not Dubai or New York.
We have a preference for candidates based in Cairo / Riyadh / Abu Dhabi, but are happy to consider candidates outside the Arab world who can travel several times a year to the region for multi-week reporting trips.
The position is not fully “async” — we would expect you to be engaged on deadline when we close out issues (early morning Cairo time) and to be able to communicate on Google Meet calls with our team during newsroom hours. Strong organizational, story planning, and communications skills are required.
About us
EnterpriseAM is the business daily for the Arab world — six national and regional editions across Egypt, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, the MENA logistics industry, the MENA-India corridor, and our flagship MENA+ edition. We’re a team of more than 120 people (with more than 60 in the newsroom) and have been profitable since we started publishing 11 years ago. We’re read at 6 am by CEOs, founders, investors, and the people running the businesses we cover — as well as their bankers, regulators, and the people who invest in them.

How to apply
Send three things to patrick@enterpriseam.com:
- A note telling us a bit about yourself, why this job interests you, and what you’d want to cover first.
- Three clips you’re proud of, with a line or two for each about why.
- A CV or your LinkedIn page / X bio / whatever. We’re a lot less interested in that than we are in your note and clips.
