British oil giant BP is considering selling a minority stake in its offshore wind business, Reuters reported on Friday, citing several unnamed sources. BP does not have any offshore wind projects in operation, but has a 9.6 GW pipeline in Asia, Europe, and the US.

The company is scaling back its renewables investments: The company plans to sell a stake in its solar joint venture Lightsource BP once it completes its acquisition. The news comes not too long after BP said it was planning to sell its US onshore wind energy business BP Wind Energy and shift focus to developing utility-scale onshore renewable energy and solar power globally through Lightsource BP.

REMEMBER- BP’s new CEO expressed his intention to slow down large low-carbon investments that are “not expected to be profitable for years.” BP also dropped its ambitious goal to slash oil output by 40% before 2030 as a result of Investors’ skepticism about the profitability of the company under its ambitious transition strategy.

France plans 9.2 GW of offshore wind: France’s energy ministry is planning to launch tenders within the coming months for five wind farms with 9.2 GW capacity, Reuters reported on Friday, citing a ministry decision. The government hopes the tenders will send a “signal” for manufacturers to stay in France and not “de-localize.”

The details: The plants — two fixed and three floating — are part of a goal to achieve 45 GW of wind power by 2050 and will be built of- the coast of Fecamp, offshore from Brittany, and by the southern Mediterranean coast.
