More solar-powered data centers in Bahrain

And an AI-run bank too

Bahrain’s data centers are going solar: Bahraini tech group Beyon is adding more solar panels so a third data center within its portfolio can run entirely on clean energy, the company said this week. It’s spending about BHD 544.5k, and the work should be done “in the coming months.” The new installation is expected to generate about 2.5 GWh of clean energy annually and reduce carbon emissions by roughly 1,585 tons of carbon dioxide each year, the company says.

MEANWHILE- Bahrain’s sovereign wealth fund, Mumtalakat, and ARP Group are setting up an AI-run wholesale bank in Bahrain to serve banks, payment firms and other businesses that operate across borders. The firms have approval from Bahrain’s central bank but still need a final license.

Uhm, Enterprise? What’s a wholesale bank? That’s just banker-speak for “we offer services to big companies, institutions, governments, and other banks, not to consumers and small businesses.”
