The UAE wonders if AI can help us make babies

No developer required: Anyone 18 or older with a Google account can now publish AI-built apps on the Google Play Store for free, as long as they’re made with Google AI Studio and kept private, Bloomberg reports. One Google exec showed off an app he vibe coded to split post-game pizza costs for his kids’ sports team.

AI will help us make babies? Abu Dhabi wants to use AI to raise IVF success rates from 59% today to 80% or higher, Fast Company Middle East reports. The effort comes amid falling birth rates across the Gulf. Fair warning: AI probably can’t fix the reasons many people are having fewer kids, like housing costs and juggling work and family. It may even make them worse.

Looking for parenthood films? Start with Parenthood, one of the better things Steve Martin did in the ’80s. From roughly the same era, there’s She’s Having a Baby — when John Hughes moved on from making films about teenage angst to focus on young-adult angst instead.
