Lunate invests in Jared Kushner\u2019s PE firm:<\/strong> Abu Dhabi-based alternative asset manager Lunate Capital<\/a> and the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) invested an additional USD 1.5 bn in Affinity Partners, the private equity firm founded by Donald Trump\u2019s son-in-law Jared Kushner, Bloomberg<\/a> cited Kushner as saying on a podcast episode. It\u2019s not clear how much Lunate and QIA each invested. <\/p>\n

What we know: <\/strong>Lunate and QIA \u2014 existing investors in Affinity \u2014 committed to the extension following discussions Kushner held with investors earlier in February about potentially raising additional capital. The fresh funds bring Affinity\u2019s total assets under management to USD 4.6 bn, ensuring Affinity does not need to raise capital during Trump\u2019s four years in office to \u201cavoid any conflicts,\u201d Kushner claimed.<\/p>\n

The investment extends the debut fund\u2019s investment period by two years, to 2029<\/strong>. Investors appreciated that Affinity \u201cwent slow\u201d during its first two years, which facilitated the extension, Kushner said.<\/p>\n

Kushner was quick to dismiss the funds had anything to do with the US presidential <\/strong>elections.<\/strong> \u201cI made very clear to them that in the event that Trump was elected, that they should not expect anything from me,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
