Chatter about growth in the Middle East and the state of the global economy will vie for your attention along with the penultimate week of the US presidential race. <\/p>\n

WEATHER- It\u2019s another mainly sunny day today<\/strong>, with a daytime high of 37\u00b0C and an overnight low of 30\u00b0C in Dubai<\/strong>, and a high of 32\u00b0C in Abu Dhabi<\/strong> before the mercury dips to 30\u00b0C at night.<\/p>\n

WATCH THIS SPACE- <\/p>\n

<\/a> #1- Is KAFD gearing-up for a more intense drive to lure financial services companies? <\/strong>King Abdullah Financial District \u2014 Riyadh\u2019s answer to DIFC \u2014 is said to be interested in raising<\/a>as much as USD 750 mn<\/a> to fuel its expansion. The company is mulling both an IPO on Tadawul and the creation of a real estate investment trust to which it would contribute a number of revenue-generating buildings. KAFD is backed by the Public Investment Fund, the Kingdom\u2019s sovereign wealth fund. <\/p>\n

Advisors: <\/strong>Our friends at HSBC have the mandate, alongside Citi and Al Rajhi Capital. <\/p>\n

Fast fact: KAFD is looking for a new boss <\/strong>after Gautam Sashittal stepped down earlier this month. <\/p>\n

<\/a> #2- HYDROGEN WATCH- <\/strong>French private equity firm <\/strong>Ardian<\/a><\/strong> is exploring partnerships with <\/strong>UAE renewables giant Masdar<\/strong> and Saudi\u2019s sovereign wealth fund to invest in green hydrogen, Ardian's senior managing director, Francois-Aissa Touazi, told The National<\/a>. Ardian, has assets under management of c. USD 169 bn, will make its first joint investment with Masdar next year through its USD 2.2 bn clean energy fund. <\/p>\n

AND- The firm is putting together a dedicated hydrogen investment team in Abu Dhabi <\/strong>and has plans to launch a hydrogen tech fund.<\/p>\n

\n

<\/a> #3- US tech outfit SolarWinds is said to be looking into moving its Europe, Middle East, <\/strong>and Africa headquarters to Dubai <\/strong>from Cork, Ireland. The company is also opening an office in Riyadh, Bloomberg<\/a> reports. <\/p>\n

<\/a> #4- Further stimulation of economic growth, environmental protection, and safeguarding <\/strong>the rights of residents <\/strong>are the features of 2024-2029 strategic plan put forward yesterday by Dubai\u2019s Supreme Legislation Committee, according to a statement<\/a>. <\/p>\n

News outlets on both sides of the Atlantic are asking whether this means the end of <\/strong>Israel\u2019s war on Gaza<\/strong> after US President Joe Biden said<\/a> Sinwar\u2019s killing means \u201cNow\u2019s the time to move on \u2026 towards a ceasefire. It\u2019s time for this war to end.\u201d<\/p>\n

Netanyahu is having none of it<\/strong>, saying<\/a>: \u201cBut the war, my dear ones, is not over yet. Great challenges still lie ahead of us. Together we will fight.\u201d <\/p>\n

MEANWHILE- It was the first time in more than a decade that an Iranian foreign minister <\/strong>has touched down in Cairo<\/strong> when Abbas Araghchi met yesterday<\/a> with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. Araghchi\u2019s visit comes as Tehran steps up diplomatic efforts to avoid being drawn deeper into conflict with Israel. <\/p>\n

IN US POLITICS- It\u2019s 17 days until voters head to the polls<\/strong>, and Kamala Harris\u2019 campaign is tweaking tactics<\/a> after the seesaw of polls began tipping in Donald Trump\u2019s favor. Harris\u2019 team is now looking to attract more men and Republican voters. <\/p>\n

CLOSER TO HOME- Oman\u2019s state energy company raised USD 2 bn in a blockbuster IPO <\/strong>that now stands as the country\u2019s largest-ever stock offering. The sale of a 25% stake in OQ Exploration & Production<\/a> makes it the biggest IPO in the region since Adnoc Gas went public in an USD 2.5 bn offering last year. <\/p>\n

In context: <\/strong>The OQ sale was more than 2x oversubscribed and is the fourth-largest IPO<\/a> in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa this year. You can check out OQEP\u2019s prospectus here (pdf)<\/a>.<\/p>\n
