Dubai-based payroll and employee data platform <\/strong>Cercli<\/a><\/strong> has secured USD 4 mn in a seed <\/strong>round <\/strong>led by Silicon Valley-headquartered Afore Capital<\/a>, according to a press release<\/a>. It\u2019s the first Mena investment for Afore, a San Francisco-based venture capital firm. It made the investment from its USD 150 mn Fund III. <\/p>\n

Who else pitched in?<\/strong> The funding round also saw participation from Cotu Ventures, Y Combinator, and Rebel Fund, as well as entrepreneurs such as Karim Atiyeh, Sebastian Mejia, Tony Dong, Tony Jamous, and Allison Pickens, in addition to founders and executives from unicorns Kitopi, Careem, and other Mena-based startups.<\/p>\n

Where\u2019s the money going? <\/strong>The startup plans to use the raised funds to \u201cdouble down on growth while attracting world-class talent to accelerate the adoption of Cercli across our regional economy,\u201d co-founder David Reche said. <\/p>\n
