More details on Masdar-backed consortium\u2019s green ammonia project in Egypt:<\/strong> Masdar, BP, Hassan Allam Utilities, and Infinity will build an 8 GW green hydrogen and ammonia plant with some USD 12 bn in financing, Infinity Power Chairman Mohamed Mansour told Al Arabyia<\/a>. The project \u2014 which targets 300 MW of capacity in its first phase \u2014 will be financed through a mix of equity and bank loans and is expected to reach financial close within two to three years. The firms are yet to secure land for the green energy complex.<\/p>\n

ICYMI-<\/strong> The consortium <\/span>agreed to set up<\/a> a USD 15 bn green hydrogen project in Egypt\u2019s Suez Canal Economic Zone at the Egypt-EU conference earlier this week, and <\/span>signed a joint development agreement<\/a> to explore establishing a multi-phase green hydrogen in Egypt. BP will serve as the main developer and operator of the proposed project which will focus on exports.<\/span><\/p>\n

ALSO- Another update on Egypt\u2019s mega wind project: <\/strong>The Infinity Power-Hassan Allam Utilities-Masdar consortium was meant to receive the land for their USD 11 bn 10 GW wind farm<\/a> project in Sohag yesterday, Mansour added. The consortium will conduct a year-long wind assessment study before financial closure. The land access agreement was signed with the Egyptian government last month. <\/p>\n

ICYMI- Construction on the mega project was delayed and is set to start <\/strong>in March 2026<\/a><\/strong>, Mansour told Bloomberg in an interview last month. Construction was initially set for this year but fell behind due to land procurement issues in West Sohag. The farm is now expected to become operational by 2032.<\/p>\n

Cepsa + PreZero Spain sign biomethane agreement: <\/strong>Spanish oil and gas company Cepsa<\/a> \u2014 which is majority owned by sovereign fund Mubadala and Carlyle Group \u2014 and Schwarz Group\u2019s environmental arm, PreZero Spain<\/a>, agreed to partner on biomethane plants using organic waste, according to a statement<\/a>. The pair will recover waste and convert it into raw material to produce 2G biofuels and circular chemical products. <\/p>\n

What\u2019s planned? <\/strong>The companies plan to build their first plant with up to 100 GWh capacity in Cepsa\u2019s Palos de la Frontera, where it has an energy park, and a 1 GW green hydrogen plant to supply the Andalucian Green Hydrogen Valley and Cepsa\u2019s new second generation biofuels plant with renewable energy. Cepsa will receive biogenic CO2 from PreZero\u2019s biomethane plants, used cooking oil, and other organic waste to produce synthetic fuels.
