Mubadala Capital will fund the investment through a mix of equity and debt over a period of five to 10 years, according to Fahlgren.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>The details: <\/strong>The biofuels plant \u2014 to be developed by Mubadala Capital\u2019s energy subsidiary Acelen \u2014 will comprise five USD 2.7 bn modules, each including a biorefinery with the capacity to process 20k fuel barrels per day. The first module is set to commence production by the end of 2026. Additionally, Mubadala Capital plans to convert an existing oil refinery, acquired from Brazil\u2019s state-owned energy firm Petrobras in <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thenationalnews.com\/climate\/road-to-net-zero\/2023\/09\/04\/brazils-petrobras-explores-investment-in-mubadala-capital-owned-biofuel-project\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">2021<\/a>, in the northeast region of Brazil.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Why Brazil?<\/strong> \u201cIt\u2019s all about feedstock [which] in reality is agriculture. And Brazil is probably the best-placed country on the planet when it comes to agricultural proficiency because of the climate and the fertile soil. Brazil is to agriculture what Abu Dhabi is to oil,\u201d Fahlgren told the salmon-colored paper.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>This isn\u2019t the first time we hear about these projects:<\/strong> Mubadala Capital <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/climate.enterprise.press\/stories\/2023\/09\/05\/mubadala-capitals-biofuel-project-in-brazil-may-have-a-new-investor-102514\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">signed an MoU<\/a> with Petrobras in 2023 to partner on the refinery project, which Petrobras is looking to <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/uae\/en\/news\/story\/e4bc7e1e-7bfb-4ffe-83f0-75f01ebaec27\/mgx-could-invest-in-openai%25e2%2580%2599s-chip-and-power-production-venture-%2B-eagle-hills%25e2%2580%2599-investment-in-budapest-could-reach-eur-10-bn#:~:text=Brazil%E2%80%99s%20Petrobras%20is,administration%E2%80%99s%20divestment%20strategy.\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">repurchase<\/a> from Mubadala. In <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/climate.enterprise.press\/stories\/2023\/04\/18\/mubadala-capital-energy-subsidiary-to-invest-bns-in-brazilian-green-diesel-saf-101016\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">April 2023<\/a>, Acelen revealed the estimated cost for the biofuels project\u2019s first module, saying it plans to invest USD 2.4 bn to produce 1 bn liters per year of hydrotreated vegetable oil.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Fahlgren confirmed that Mubadala Capital is planning to open a new stock exchange in <\/strong><strong>Brazil, <\/strong>stating that \u201cBrazil is a very large country,\u201d and that it plans to roll out the exchange in a staged launch, starting with equities and later expanding to other asset classes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>ICYMI- <\/strong>Bloomberg <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/uae\/en\/news\/story\/186c6260-e7a0-4b83-a9ed-e44e57bb7e95\/efg-hermes%25e2%2580%2599-one-on-one-gets-underway-in-dubai-this-morning#:~:text=%231%2D%20Mubadala%20Capital,is%20under%20discussion.\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a> in March that Mubadala Capital plans to establish a stock exchange in Brazil through its subsidiary, Americas Trading Group (ATG), to rival the Brazilian stock exchange, B3. Mubadala is looking to launch the new exchange in Sao Paulo by 2025, aiming to enhance competition, potentially reduce listing and trading costs for companies in Brazil. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>M<\/strong><strong>ubadala has a diverse portfolio in Brazil: <\/strong>Among Mubadala Capital\u2019s various investments in Brazil \u2014 which include <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.lavca.org\/mubadala-acquires-brazils-metro-rio-and-metro-barra\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">metro lines<\/a> and the S\u00e3o Paulo Formula 1 Grand Prix promoter <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.f1technical.net\/news\/22984\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">MC Brazil Motorspor<\/a> t \u2014 the asset manager <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/markets\/deals\/mubadala-raises-stake-brazilian-ethanol-producer-atvos-2023-10-20\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">acquired<\/a> Grupo Novonor\u2019s 6.85% stake in Brazilian sugarcane processor Atvos, raising its total stake to 38.35%.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Mubadala Capital also raised its stake in Brazilian food retailer Zamp to 58%<\/strong> after investing some <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/uae\/en\/news\/story\/96da0b9f-21f3-4ad4-9eaa-f29f4945657f\/ihc-takes-14.83%2525-stake-in-colombian-food-manufacturer-%2B-rpm-closes-prometheus-acquisition\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">USD 200 mn<\/a> in Zamp alongside Affinity Partners, the private equity firm founded by Donald Trump\u2019s son-in-law Jared Kushner.
