President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tariq <\/strong>met yesterday<\/strong> at Qasr Al Watan in Abu Dhabi, where they discussed strengthening bilateral relations and recent regional developments, state news agency Wam<\/a> reported. Officials from the two countries inked MoUs to boost investments, as well as cooperation on renewables, sustainability, railways, tech, and education, Wam<\/a> reported separately. <\/p>\n

The two leaders promised to explore further economic prospects<\/strong>, and emphasized the \u201cimpenetrable fortress\u201d that is the GCC in the face of regional and global challenges. <\/p>\n

REMEMBER- <\/strong>Etihad Rail and Oman Rail signed an agreement<\/a> late 2022 to create The Oman and Etihad Rail Company, which is co-owned by Oman and the UAE\u2019s governments and yields USD 3 bn in capital slated for the design, development, and operation of railways linking Oman\u2019s Sohar Port with the UAE\u2019s national railway network. The transport link between the UAE and Oman, first announced<\/a> in September, is aimed at bolstering trade between the two countries and the region. The rail line will serve both passenger and freight trains.<\/p>\n

The UAE denied its involvement in any \u201cform of aggression or destabilization\u201d in <\/strong>Sudan<\/strong>, dispelling such claims as \u201cdisinformation and false narratives,\u201d the UAE\u2019s Permanent Representative to the UN Mohamed Abushahab said in a statement<\/a> to the UN Security Council on Sunday. The UAE mission\u2019s letter came in response to a statement<\/a> delivered by the Sudanese permanent representative to the Security Council last Friday, accusing the UAE of supporting the Rapid Support Forces, an accusation the UAE rejected as \u201cspurious\u201d and \u201cunfounded.\u201d<\/p>\n

The UAE stressed its ongoing commitment to supporting efforts to achieve a peaceful resolution in Sudan <\/strong>and that the Sudanese delegation\u2019s accusation only serves to \u201cdeflect responsibility and undermine international efforts to address the humanitarian crisis in Sudan.\u201d<\/p>\n
