The S&P 500 hit another record high <\/strong>yesterday<\/a><\/strong> as traders looked past a US inflation report <\/strong>that saw prices rise faster than expected. Pundits don\u2019t think the \u201clast mile\u201d surge of inflation<\/a> will derail the US Federal Reserve\u2019s plan to start trimming interest rates throughout the second half of the year. <\/p>\n

Stock markets rallies make analysts believe a risk reset is around the corner: <\/strong>The world\u2019s most prominent indices \u2014 S&P 500, Nasdaq, Japan\u2019s Nikkei 225, Germany\u2019s Dax, and others \u2014 have all notched record highs in recent weeks, cementing investors and analysts confidence and pushing some to let go of previously risk-averse approaches, the Financial Times<\/a> writes.<\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone\u2019s been anticipating a recession for a long time and it hasn\u2019t materialized,\u201d<\/strong>UBS Asset Management\u2019s head of multi-asset strategy Evan Brown told the salmon-colored paper. \u201cIt\u2019s like a reset of the risk cycle,\u201d Brown added, pointing to previously risk-averse investors not jumping back into stocks. Driving investor confidence is the understanding that central banks across the world seem to have been able to reel back inflation without sparking an economic downtown \u2014 referred to by economists as the Goldilocks scenario.<\/p>\n

Looking into the crystal ball: <\/strong>Goldman Sachs, UBS, and Bank of America (BofA) have all upgraded their year-end forecasts for the S&P 500, with BofA penciling in a 5% increase above current levels. Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 G\u00e9n\u00e9rale sees the Nasdaq 100\u2019s earnings gaining 40% in 1H 2024, while Morgan Stanley expects pan-European indices to \u201ckeep rising like it\u2019s 1995,\u201d notching a 12% increase above current levels.<\/p>\n
