The UAE is also the highest-ranked country in the Middle East and North Africa region. China and India occupy the top two spots in the ranking, while Venezuela, Myanmar, and Libya are the lowest-ranked countries. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>How it\u2019s measured:<\/strong> The index surveys 830 executives from the logistics industry to assess the performance of 50 emerging markets based on four criteria: Domestic logistics potential, international logistics potential, business fundamentals, and digital readiness. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Solid business fundamentals:<\/strong> The UAE ranks first globally for best business fundamentals, while coming in second place (behind China) in the digital readiness category. The country stayed put in fifth place on the domestic potential category and seventh place on the international opportunities subindex. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>The UAE is developing its digital infrastructure<\/strong> on the back of a regional \u201csurge in digital infrastructure investment, including in the laying of undersea cables and development of data centers,\u201d according to Agility. Most recently, e& said it is planning to anchor the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/uae\/en\/news\/story\/79120814-b4a4-4d24-ae42-4a65b2d12ef1#:~:text=e%26%E2%80%99s%20internet%20provider%2C%20Carrier%20%26%20Wholesale%20Services%20(C%26WS)%2C%20is%20planning%20to%20anchor%20the%20world%E2%80%99s%20longest%20undersea%20telecoms%20cable%2C%20the%202Africa%20subsea%20internet%20cable%2C%20in%20Kaliba%2C%20Fujairah%2C%20according%20to%20a%20press%20release.%20The%20cable%20will%20be%20connected%20to%20Fujairah%E2%80%99s%20cable%20landing%20station.\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">world\u2019s longest undersea telecoms cable<\/a>, the 2Africa subsea internet cable, in Kaliba, which will be connected to Fujairah\u2019s cable landing station.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>We\u2019re also doing well with economic diversification:<\/strong> The non-oil economy and economic diversification are underpinned by SMEs and SME growth, as UAE-based SMEs currently account for over 63.5% of the country\u2019s non-oil GDP, the report said. The <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/u.ae\/en\/information-and-services\/business\/small-and-medium-enterprises\/small-and-medium-enterprises#:~:text=As%20of%20mid%2D2022%2C%20the%20number%20of%20small%20%26%20medium%20enterprises%20in%20the%20UAE%20was%20557%2C000.%20SMEs%20contribute%20as%20much%20as%2063.5%20per%20cent%20to%20the%20non%2Doil%20GDP.%20It%20is%20forecasted%20that%20there%20will%20be%201%20million%20SMEs%20in%20the%20UAE%20by%20the%20year%202030.\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">government aims<\/a> to grow SMEs\u2019 contribution to the economy by increasing their number to 1 mn by 2030. <\/p>\n<p class=\"tag-border-left\">REGIONAL + GLOBAL ANGLES- <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>GCC countries stood out: <\/strong>Along with the UAE, Saudi Arabia came in the top 10 emerging markets on all the indices. Apart from the international potential index, Qatar also ranked among the top 10 in all categories. Bahrain secured eighth place in the business fundamentals category. The GCC countries\u2019 top 10 positions helped the MENA region outperform Southeast Asia as 2024\u2019s projected \u201cregion with the third strongest economic growth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Optimism is high for MENA<\/strong>, as it stands at a \u201cjunction of development in many areas. It has a rapidly growing population of young consumers, increased digital adoption, rising disposable income, giga investment projects and significant public expenditure,\u201d according to the survey\u2019s respondents.
