The <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/climate.enterprise.news\/news\/story?storyId=8554b8c3-1451-4236-b62a-a9f9ed60cb33\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">G2COOL plant<\/a> will produce chilled water needed by UAE\u2019s National Central Cooling Company (Tabreed) for its district cooling activities. The project will be funded under Adnoc\u2019s <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/climate.enterprise.press\/stories\/2023\/01\/10\/adnoc-sinks-bns-in-a-massive-decarbonization-push-93144\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">USD 15 bn allocation<\/a> towards developing low-carbon power solutions as part of its <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/ent.news\/2023\/12\/202.pdf\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">net zero by<\/a><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/ent.news\/2023\/12\/202.pdf\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">2045<\/a> goal.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>The facility will contribute to reducing carbon emissions in the cooling of buildings in <\/strong><strong>Masdar City<\/strong>, contributing to the diversification of the UAE's energy sources in line with the UAE National Energy Strategy 2050. Cooling buildings constitutes approximately 70% of the UAE's electricity usage. District cooling provides a more sustainable option, being roughly 50% more energy-efficient than conventional methods. This clean energy source covers 10% of the city's cooling demands.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>How it works: <\/strong>The plant uses two geothermal wells to extract naturally occurring hot water. The hot water goes into absorption cooling technology to produce the chilled water required for Tabreed's district cooling in Masdar City.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>REMEMBER- Adnoc and Masdar are teaming up on geothermal energy production:<\/strong> Back in March, Adnoc <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/climate.enterprise.press\/stories\/2023\/03\/22\/adnoc-and-masdar-team-up-on-geothermal-energy-generation-trina-solar-supplies-yemen-with-500-mw-of-solar-panels-and-tabreed-approves-record-dividends-100772\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">signed a five-year agreement<\/a> with UAE renewables giant Masdar to explore potential investment and development in the geothermal power sector, with Adnoc serving as Masdar\u2019s drilling technical expert.
