Work could begin within 6-12 months once planning and structuring are completed, he added. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>\u201cThe time for Syria is now<\/strong><strong>,\u201d<\/strong> Alabbar said, explaining that any investment inherently carries risk \u2014 even the ones in the UAE or Egypt \u2014 but that \u201cthe smart move is to act fast before others jump [at the chance].\u201d <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>REMEMBER- <\/strong>Reports had circulated last week that Alabbar\u2019s international development-focused firm, Eagle Hills, is weighing some <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterpriseam.com\/uae\/2026\/05\/06\/the-uaes-eagle-hills-and-icd-eye-real-estate-tourism-investments-in-syria\/\" style=\"\">USD 50 bn in developments in Syria<\/a>, though Alabbar \u2014 without outright denying the figure is true \u2014 pointed to slightly smaller investment estimates as of now. The projects mentioned included a major development in Damascus\u2019 Dummar area and another in Latakia. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Tourism is central to the pitch: <\/strong>Syria could attract as many as 8 mn tourists within 4-5 years \u2014 up from roughly 4 mn visitors last year \u2014 potentially generating USD 5-7 bn in annual foreign currency inflows, Alabbar said. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>It won\u2019t all be Emirati capital. <\/strong>Alabbar plans to open up his projects to Syrian partners who could own shares in the company set up to develop these projects. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>The broader push mirrors UAE-backed <\/strong><strong>megadevelopment and<\/strong><strong> reconstruction plays elsewhere in the region.<\/strong> Earlier this year, we covered reports of the UAE\u2019s funding plans <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterpriseam.com\/uae\/2026\/02\/26\/uae-funds-gaza-housing-project-near-rafah\/\" style=\"\">for a residential complex in Gaza<\/a> to house displaced Palestinians.
