We\u2019re <\/strong>f<\/strong>ive days into the US-Israel-Iran war<\/strong> and analysts are still drawing up scenarios for how it might unfold. As far as impact on the ground: life remains somewhat normal, with people slowly going back to their daily routines (outside of work and school, anyway) in Dubai, though damage to digital \u2014 and oil \u2014 infrastructure is still a major concern. <\/p>\n

Government officials addressed the public yesterday in a presser (<\/strong>watch, runtime:<\/a><\/strong>1:10:23<\/a><\/strong>) for the first time since the start of the war<\/strong>, reassuring residents and citizens of the efficacy \u2014 and durability \u2014 of the country\u2019s air defense system, and reiterating their message that the UAE reserves the right to act in self-defense. <\/p>\n

And there\u2019s plenty of food to go around: <\/strong>Economy and Tourism Minister Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri says we have four to six months\u2019 worth of stockpiles of essential commodities on hand. <\/p>\n

MEANWHILE- Commercial flights in and out of the UAE are still suspended<\/strong> until tomorrow, but officials are locking-in agreements with its neighbors to open up emergency flight routes<\/strong>. Sixty evacuation flights have left in recent days<\/a>, and the goal is to get to as many as 40 flights per hour in the coming period, Al Marri said.<\/p>\n

The general message was clear:<\/strong> We don\u2019t want an escalation of the war, and dialogue is the best way forward. <\/p>\n

But the UAE isn\u2019t going to take endless punches, either: <\/strong>The government is reportedly weighing military action against Iran to deter future strikes on the UAE, two sources with knowledge of the matter told Axios<\/a>. An Emirati attack on Iran would be unprecedented. <\/p>\n

Officials here yesterday <\/strong>condemned<\/a><\/strong> again Iran\u2019s attacks<\/strong>, with state news agency Wam<\/a> signaling that the UAE\u2019s patience isn\u2019t infinite.<\/p>\n
