HAPPENING TODAY- All eyes shift this morning to capital markets, which are set to <\/strong>reopen after a <\/strong>rare two-day<\/a><\/strong>suspension<\/a><\/strong>. <\/strong>Outflows are likely, pundits tell us in this morning\u2019s Big Story Today, whether you\u2019re talking about the stock market or foreign direct investment. Israel and the US continue to signal that the war has just begun, so it\u2019s anyone\u2019s guess what the final hit to investor sentiment will be.<\/p>\n

Look for shares to be constrained by a 5% loss-limit on all listed securities <\/strong>on both ADX<\/a>and DFM<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Analysts <\/strong>expect traders to start the day<\/a><\/strong> with a significant backlog of orders<\/strong>, which typically signals a \u201cvolatile open\u201d where a sharp move in the first hour would not be unusual, as we reported earlier this week. The General Civil Aviation Authority is running evacuation flights<\/strong> from UAE airports, state news agency Wam<\/a> says. <\/p>\n

ALSO- <\/strong>The <\/strong>United States government is scheduling charter flights to <\/strong>evacuate Americans in the UAE<\/strong>, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan, the State Department said in a statement<\/a>. <\/p>\n

<\/a> ANOTHER WAY OUT? \u2014 Abu Dhabi is testing a backup route for people and <\/strong>cargo \u2014 just in case\u2026 <\/strong>Etihad Rail ran a passenger train trial of the line linking Al Ghuwaifat on the Saudi border to Al Faya in Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi Media Office<\/a> said. Al Ghuwaifat sits at one of the UAE\u2019s key western entry points from Saudi Arabia. Connecting it directly to Al Faya \u2014 which has a major dry port linked to Khalifa Port.<\/p>\n

AND- Some travelers<\/strong> are paying as much as EUR 200k for luxury flights to Europe <\/strong>via airports spared from attack, the Associated Press<\/a> reports. <\/p>\n

<\/a> SUPPLY CHAINS \u2014<\/strong> Asia-based traders are scrambling to find <\/strong>alterna<\/strong>tives for dry sulfur supplies<\/strong> stranded in the <\/strong>Gulf<\/strong>, a critical input for fertilizers and nickel processing, Bloomberg<\/a> reports<\/p>\n

Why it matters to us:<\/strong> As one of the world\u2019s top exporters of sulfur, the UAE sits at the heart of a trade route that accounts for roughly 50% \u2014 20 mn tons \u2014 of global seaborne sulfur trade.<\/p>\n

What it means: <\/strong>Lost revenue for domestic producers and higher prices across Asia. <\/p>\n

The movement of gold bullion into and out of the UAE is also taking a hit<\/strong>, the business<\/a>information service<\/a> reports, thanks to the cancellation of flights. The UAE has become a major hub for refining, exporting, and transhipping the precious metal from markets like London and Switzerland. <\/p>\n

<\/a> TRANSPORT \u2014<\/strong> Chinese <\/strong>robotaxi operators including <\/strong>autonomous driving firm WeRide have hit \u201cpause\u201d on Dubai operations, Reuters<\/a> reports. The company said its fleet is still running in Abu Dhabi and Riyadh, but staff are working from home and avoiding unnecessary trips to stay safe. <\/p>\n

WeRide\u2019s competitors are \u201cmonitoring the situation,\u201d <\/strong>including Baidu\u2019s Apollo Go and Pony.ai<\/a>, which paused trials of its vehicles in Dubai. <\/p>\n

The US International Development Finance Corporation will at the same time provide ins. for oil tankers in the Gulf at a \u201cvery reasonable price,\u201d he added. <\/p>\n

\u201cNo matter what, the United States will ensure the <\/strong>free flow<\/strong> of energy to the world,\u201d<\/strong> Trump added.<\/p>\n
