Masdar<\/strong> will develop two new battery energy storage system (BESS) projects <\/strong>in<\/strong> the UK\u2019s Cardiff and Chesterfield<\/strong>, with a combined capacity of 150 MW and 300 MWh, according to a press release<\/a>. Commercial operations have also started at its 20 MW Stockport battery storage facility \u2014 the first project delivered under its GBP 1 bn 3 GWh battery storage pipeline<\/a> for the UK. <\/p>\n

Masdar is no stranger to the UK: <\/strong>The Abu Dhabi renewables company made the pledge for battery storage projects in the country shortly after acquiring<\/a> UK-based BESS outfit Arlington Energy in 2022. It also has a GBP 5.2 bn co-investment with Iberdrola<\/a> in the 1.4 GW East Anglia Three offshore wind facility, and is developing the 3 GW Dogger Bank South offshore wind farm in partnership with RWE.<\/p>\n
