The transaction marks Adnoc\u2019s <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/uae\/en\/news\/story\/f156b800-1f4b-4254-95c4-d8598329988e\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">first direct investment<\/a> in US gas infrastructure. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong style=\"background-color: transparent;\">First announced in May last year<\/strong><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">, the agreement was finalized through an investment vehicle of BlackRock\u2019s Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), with XRG acquiring a portion of GIP\u2019s existing stake. XRG\u2019s stake in the first phase includes the first three liquefaction trains in the USD 18 bn facility, which are currently under construction.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Other phases are on the way:<\/strong> NexDecade retained its share in the first phase alongside its shares in the fourth and fifth proposed trains, with Adnoc having the option to buy into these. Once all trains are developed, Rio Grande LNG\u2019s potential liquefaction capacity could reach up to 48 mn tonnes per annum (mtpa), the statement said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>NextDecade also reached a final investment decision on the fourth liquefaction train earlier this month<\/strong>, activating Adnoc\u2019s 20-year offtake agreement for 1.9 mtpa from the additional train.
