Global <\/strong>i<\/strong>nvestment firm<\/strong> KKR<\/a><\/strong> has named David Petraeus (<\/strong>LinkedIn<\/a><\/strong>) as chair of KKR <\/strong>Middle East<\/strong>, the company said in a press release (pdf)<\/a>. Retired US army general and former director of the CIA between 2011 and 2012, Petraeus will \u201cleverage his extensive Middle East knowledge and stakeholder relationships to strengthen KKR\u2019s presence and partnerships in the region\u201d as the region emerges as a \u201cleading investment powerhouse,\u201d according to Petraeus. He is a partner at KKR and chairman of KKR Global Institute. <\/p>\n

KKR is also establishing a team, led by KKR\u2019s<\/strong> Julian Barratt-Due<\/strong> (<\/strong>LinkedIn<\/a><\/strong>), to focus on potential investments in the GCC<\/strong>, similar to its recent move to acquire a stake in the <\/span>Gulf Data Hub<\/a>. The new team will be based out of Dubai, and comes amid the firm\u2019s increasing focus on infrastructure, private credit, and asset-backed lending, the <\/span>Financial Times<\/a> reports. The firm sees \u201cgrowing [potential]\u201d to invest in and lend to \u201cdomestic businesses\u201d in the region, Petraeus said.<\/span><\/p>\n

The firm had also acquired a stake in Adnoc Oil Pipelines alongside BlackRock in what was the first <\/strong>investment made by foreign asset managers in a state-owned oil producer in the region.
